Maryland Casinos

Maryland is an east coast state. Maryland casinos feature horse racing, but not gaming tables or machines. This state may be small, but it has quite a few popular and entertaining racetracks for horse racing enthusiasts to enjoy. The draw of Maryland casinos is that they offer betting in an otherwise non-gambling state.
Maryland is the 7th state and was admitted on April 28, 1788. Maryland is one of the smallest states in the U.S., with an area of 12,407 square miles. It is nicknamed the "Old Line State". In December of 2000 the population was recorded at 5,296,486. The issue of gambling is a heated one in Maryland. There have been attempts at legalizing all forms of gambling, but many people believe Maryland should remain more family oriented and keep gambling out. However, horse racing is still big throughout the state.Pimlico Race Course is located in Baltimore at 5201 Park Heights Avenue. It has live thoroughbred racing March through June on Wednesday through Sunday from noon to midnight. Racing is broadcast Sunday through Tuesday from noon to 8pm. There are four restaurants on-site.Ocean Downs is at 10218 Racetrack Road in Berlin. This track features harness racing from noon to midnight daily. There are four restaurants on site.Rosecroft Raceway is in Fort Washington at 6336 Rosecroft Drive. This horse track has harness racing Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1am to noon. There are two restaurants at the raceway.
Laurel Park is located in Laurel on Route 198 at Racetrack Road. It has two tracks that broadcast and host live thoroughbred racing. The hours vary, with operations Sunday through Tuesday from 11:30am to 8:30pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30am to midnight, Fridays 11:30 to 1am and Saturday 11:30am to 12:30am. There are six restaurants on site.
